This beautiful Palace is located in the province of Segovia. It was built in 1721 in the name of Philip V of Spain (the first Bourbon king) who had a fondness of French-style palaces. Since it was built, it’s been the summer residence of various Spanish kings and queens.
The palace and was designed in the late baroque style by French architects who had previously worked on Versailles.
What makes La Granja impressive are the gardens, probably the most extensive of the royal palaces in Spain. The main garden comes down a small hill towards the palace, and it is full of fountains that have a lot of water that flow towards the palace by gravity. The palace overlooks the gardens and from inside the palace one has a good view of the gardens.
Although water conservation efforts normally dictate limited operation, there are several days each year when all the fountains are pressed into service and visitors can enjoy the gardens as they were meant to be. The fountains are turned on only once a week. Their gives more details on this website.

Segovia is a city that elegantly fuses the best traits of its Roman and medieval past. Visitors flock to see the ancient roman aqueduct and the towering spires of the Alcazar, such a fine structure that it was a key inspiration for Walt Disney’s Cinderella Castle.
The Cathedral is notable for being the last Gothic cathedral built in Spain, and considered one of the finest ecclesiastic examples of the style in the country.
